Colour & Clarity

Diamonds are commonly colourless but can more rarely be found in a variety of colours including Pink, Blue, Green, Red and Yellow. The colourless stone compliments Yellow Gold, White Gold and Platinum equally well.

The Colour and Clarity varies from stone to stone, the clearer the stone the more it will be worth. They are the hardest substance known to man and made of chrystalised carbon.

Origins

The name Diamond originates from the Greek word 'adamas' meaning unbreakable. Diamonds were first discovered in India at least 3,000 years ago, they are the oldest of all gemstones with most being between 100 million and 3 billion years old.

The Star of Africa or Cullinan Diamond is the largest example of a cut Diamond in the world. It is colourless and weighs 530 carats, it is mounted in the Queen's Royal Sceptre.

Care 

1. Whenever possible put your Diamond jewellery on after applying any lotions, perfumes or sprays and remove when doing the dishes or other tough jobs such as gardening. 

2. Clean your Diamond jewellery using shop bought jewellery cleaner or with mild soap and warm water, scrub gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse in warm water and dry using a soft cloth, a sonic cleaner can also be used.
