Amethyst

The perfect gift for anyone born during February, Amethyst can be worn by anyone but is especially suited to those with a cool skin tone and suits all hair colours.

Amethyst suits all metals but looks especially stunning when set with white metals such as White Gold or Platinum.


Characteristics

Amethyst colour ranges from pale Lilac to deep Purple, a mid range Purple is the most sought after colour.


Origins

Greek Legend states that Amethyst got it's colour when Bacchus, the Roman God of wine, poured grape juice over a pure white stone. Purple has always been a widely favoured colour of royalty which has seen Amethyst used in the jewellery of many countries, including the British Crown Jewels.


Symbolism & Healing Powers

Amethyst symbolises protection, peace and tranquility. It is said to protect from intoxication, poisoning, treason and deceit, prevent baldness, improve the complexion, cure insomnia and bring pleasant dreams, sharpen the mind and intellect.

Care

1. Whenever possible put your Amethyst jewellery on after applying any lotions, perfumes or sprays and remove when doing the dishes or other tough jobs such as gardening.

2. Clean your Amethyst jewellery using shop bought jewellery cleaner or with mild soap and warm water, scrub gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse in warm water and dry using a soft cloth, a sonic cleaner can also be used.
